Sandoval County and the NMLB
In March of 2023 the 4 Wild Horses shown above (A Black & White Pinto Mare, A Brown and White Pinto Stallion, a Bay Mare and her Bay Foal hidden behind the stallion and the rest) were lured into a corral in San Pedro Creek Estates of Sandia Park, NM. Sandoval County was called by the private citizen who stated openly that these were Wild Horses he had in his corral.
Sandoval County did not update their log of impounded animals. Sandoval County called the NMLB. The NMLB a law enforcement agency that carries guns but does not have to turn on their body cam, travelled to the corral in San Pedro Creek Estates but did not communicate the law to the private citizen. Another private citizen then hauled the horses away to Belen, NM.
These horses have never been recovered, however thanks to New Mexico for Equine Rights and Open Government who posted and obtained the pictures of the horses in the corral seen above by IPRA, the Black and White Mare was found, ONE DAY LATE, at a Kill Buyer Livestock Auction House in Southern Colorado.
When this round up happened, ALOT of people at San Pedro Creek Estates thankfully Spoke Up! There is much more WHOA could say, however, we are still in court as this is an interlocutory (interim) ruling, yet strongly in the favor of the Wild Horses.
Though these Legally Wild Horses were rounded up at San Pedro Creek Estates and were alegedly illegally impounded, these protected State’s Wild Horses were allegedly rounded up without the knowledge of their Board or their community. Thankfully, many people from San Pedro Creek Estates contacted WHOA.
